Select a category from the left to display as a pattern across the map to the right. Such a map is called a choropleth map and is used to show variation in data across groups (in this case states).
You can select between 1 and 6 individual states by clicking on them in the map to the right.
The red and yellow icons to the left allow you to filter the states highlighted on the map.
Red icons denote court structure characteristics, while yellow icons denote state-level descriptive factors.
The menu attached to each red icon contains a link to the definition of the court structure characteristic it represents.
The yellow icons are designed to provide convenient "groupings" of states for comparison by a number of factors that may be of interest as you explore the data. However, we do not mean to suggest that these factors result in more meaningful comparisons than other factors not included here.
To clear filters, click on the blue bar of the filter you wish to clear under the "Selected Filter" list in this space.
